Adding collagen to your favorite foods

Collagen is a word you probably have been hearing a lot lately. This little structural protein has been promoted as the second coming in wellness, promising to reverse skin aging and reduce cellulite and a whole host of other benefits. But the best part about it, is that it’s super easy to add into your diet. You can add collagen into almost anything! I love putting it in my morning coffee, but I figured…why stop there?

I started doing some research and found a whole host of different recipes that will help you add collagen into your everyday meals. Because who wouldn’t want younger looking skin and an added glow? Just a few scoops of this baby, and you’ll be on your way…

  1. Coffee and Lattes: This is the simplest way to start, and one of my favorites 😊 Add a scoop of collagen into your morning coffee or latte! Many companies even make on-the-go smaller versions that you can throw in your purse for the office.
  2. Pancakes: One of my personal favorite ways to integrate collagen is into my morning pancakes. It’s the perfect way to start my day with a treat but add in some goodness as well.
  3. Oatmeal: Just a little sprinkle on top, and your daily does of collagen is done! Collagen also helps make your meals even more filling, so if you’re trying to limit your carbs but stay full, this is a great balance.
  4. Breakfast Egg Cups: These are great for meal-preppers! I love this recipe, and you can make them for your whole family to reheat in the mornings.
  5. Soup or Chili: Whether you are making this on your own or going from a can, soup is such an easy weekday meal. Just sprinkle some in! You can even use beef collagen to add to the flavor of the soup or chili. This cabbage fennel soup will be perfect come fall.
  6. Pad Thai: Seriously! I swear! Who doesn’t love pad thai? Vital Proteins has a paleo pad thai recipe that is really delicious (no joke) but you don’t have to go full paleo unless you really want to.
  7. Smoothie Bowls: Yes, yes, Instagram loves these. But so does collagen! The smoothie bowl soaks up the collagen, and now that collagen comes in flavors like matcha, it’s the perfect mid-afternoon snack option. Plus, your Instagram feed will be killer. You can also add it into normal smoothies if you want to sip and go.
  8. Cheesecake: If you’re going to start your day with collagen in your coffee, you might as well end it with collagen in your dessert too. What’s your favorite cheesecake flavor? Just add some collagen right in there.

What are your favorite ways to use collagen? Tell me in the comments – I’m always looking for new recipes! Right now, I’m loving Vital Proteins Collagen, but if you have other ideas, I’d love to hear those, too. The world of collagen and other more natural wellness is always changing and evolving, so we will be digging more into natural wellness and beauty as those trends arise. Stay tuned and stay beautiful 😊
